Usually this is where I talk about all the good things that happened the previous year and then set goals for the next year. Well, the truth is, 2020 sucked. I think the majority of people can agree that 2020 was the worst year that they’ve experienced mentally, emotionally, financially, personally and more. For me a year that started out amazing, I had made more money in Nov-Dec. 2019 and January 2020 that I’ve ever made in blogging, came to a stand still in more ways than one. I went from having several brand collaborations to having them pause or cancel and going from teaching several fitness classes almost every day, to all the gyms closing. But more on how 2020 changed fitness for me in another blog post.
But with all the terrible things that came with 2020, a few things do stand out. When the gyms closed I started teaching virtual classes. This was something I thought I would hate, but actually turned out to love and turns out is very lucrative for me. I also got some amazing opportunities in 2020. I got a year long contract with Dermae Skincare, which has turned out to be one of the best brand partnerships I’ve ever had, and Violet and I were chosen to be in a documentary! Again, more on that later!!
2020 is thankfully over and while things won’t suddenly become better just because it’s 2021, I am hopeful and positive for the future! Here are some of my goals for 2021.
Give Back More
This is something I really started focusing on in 2019 and hoped to really implement in 2020, but the world had other ideas. Katie (@thewonderlistxyz) and I were still able to do our Thanksgiving Turkey Drive for the Midnight Mission, which we were so happy about and something I will continue in 2021, but I also want to volunteer once a month at a shelter and get more involved with a particular organization. As you know, I love animals and am obsessed with my dog Violet so I’m thinking maybe an animal shelter? Stay tuned…..
Up My Influencer Game
There are so many things I’ve wanted to implement when it comes to Instagram and my blog, but I honestly haven’t had the time. In addition to my own Instagram/blog, I also run two other Instagram accounts so starting anything new for my own account usually gets pushed back on the priority list. With that said, in 2021 I decided to hire an assistant to help implement everything from gift guides, daily deals, filming reels, stories and Tik Toks, brand reach out, personal errands and more. I am so excited for this because I know it is going to make my Instagram/blog what I’ve always wanted it to be.
Pay Off My Debt
Let me start by saying I hardly have any debt at all, something I’m very proud of, but in 2021 I decided this will be the year I pay off my car and the one credit card I have 2 k debt on it. Having any debt at all gives me major anxiety so knowing it will be paid off by May 2021 or sooner, makes me feel at ease.
So not a ton of big goals this year. Normally I would have “travel more” or work with certain brands but honestly, I want to be practical and no one knows what this year holds. Again, I am staying positive and hopeful, but whatever happens I feel like we’re more prepared than we were in 2020!! Happy New Year loves!!
